We design, build and prove HVAC systems for Canadian buildings.

New HVAC design with architects and owners, design-build with one firm responsible, and the testing, balancing and commissioning that prove it works. From office towers and hospitals to data centers, cleanrooms and labs.

Offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.

Who we help

Most clients come to us in one of these situations, or from one of the industries below.

Designing a new building or addition

You’re an architect who needs a mechanical consultant, or an owner planning a project. We design the HVAC from concept to construction documents.

One firm to design and build it

You want a single contract and one point of responsibility for design, installation, balancing and commissioning.

Closing out a construction project

You need the balance report, fire damper verification and stairwell pressurization results your engineer and inspector will ask for at turnover.

A building that’s uncomfortable or costly to run

Some floors are too hot, others too cold, and the energy bill keeps climbing. We find out why, what it’s costing you and what to fix first.

A data center, cleanroom or lab

Mission-critical cooling, cleanroom classification and lab pressurization leave no room for guesswork. We design, verify and document them.

A home that never feels right

An EnerGuide evaluation rates your home’s energy use and recommends upgrades. Residential air balancing evens out rooms that run too hot or too cold.

Solutions by industry

Every sector has its own codes, risks and ways of running a building. See all industries.

New HVAC design and design-build

We design mechanical systems for new buildings, additions and renovations. Hire us as the mechanical engineer on your design team, or let us design and build the whole system under one contract.

Engineering design with architects and owners

We join the architect’s team as mechanical consultant, or work directly for the owner or developer. We compare system options early, coordinate space and shafts, and issue sealed drawings and specifications for permit and tender.

  • System options with cost, energy and carbon compared
  • Sealed drawings and specifications
  • Energy code compliance and modeling
  • Shop drawing review and site inspections

Design-build: one firm from drawings to start-up

One contract covers design, equipment, installation, balancing and commissioning. You get a firm price on a design you’ve reviewed, a shorter schedule, and no gap between the people who drew the system and the people who built it.

  • Design, permit and firm price
  • Equipment supply and installation
  • Our own balancing and commissioning
  • Operator training and full documentation

How a design project runs

  1. Concept

Owner requirements, budget, energy goals and system options.

  2. Schematic design

System sizing, mechanical rooms, shafts and roof space coordinated with the architect.

  3. Design development

Room-by-room loads, equipment selection, duct and pipe layout, energy model.

  4. Construction documents

Sealed drawings and specifications for permit and tender.

  5. Construction and handover

Shop drawings, site review, balancing, commissioning and occupancy.

Architects

A mechanical consultant who coordinates early and keeps to your schedule.

Owners and developers

Options and costs before the design is fixed, and systems that are cheap to run.

General contractors

A design-build mechanical partner with balancing and commissioning in house.

Property managers

Replacements and upgrades designed around occupied buildings.

Services

Five groups of work, each ending in documents or systems you can hand to an engineer, inspector or owner.

HVAC design and design-build

New HVAC design as the architect’s or owner’s mechanical consultant, or design-build with one firm responsible from drawings to start-up. Includes data centers, cleanrooms and labs.

You receiveSealed drawings and specifications, or a complete installed, balanced and commissioned system.

How a balancing project runs

The same five steps whether it’s one rooftop unit or a hospital wing.

  1. Review

We read the drawings, specifications and submittals, and flag problems before we’re on site.

  2. Test

We measure airflow at every terminal and water flow at every coil and pump.

  3. Adjust

We set dampers, balancing valves, fan speeds and control setpoints.

  4. Verify

We re-measure until every reading falls within the specified tolerance.

  5. Report

You get a report your engineer, contractor and inspector can sign off on.
